Environmental Literacy and Workforce Development

A sampling of Alaska Sea Grant activities

Annually, close to two million visitors join residents in enjoying Alaska’s resources. Understanding these resources increases the appreciation and conservation of the unique environment.

Alaska’s economic future depends on sustainable management and development of natural resources, requiring an environmentally literate citizenry. The aging of fishermen, fisheries managers, and seafood processors challenge succession in these vital industries. Training and support are key as the next generation takes the helm of Alaska’s industries.
