Community Education

Alaska Sea Grant Marine Advisory agents provide a variety of community education programs, including regularly scheduled lecture series highlighting relevant current research and natural resource management issues; workshops; and technical training in topics such as net mending, marine safety and seafood handling.

In addition to working with local schools, they participate in summer youth camps and other youth education programs.

MAP also plays a key role in the planning of community science symposia such as the Kodiak Area Marine Science Symposium (KAMSS) and the Western Alaska Interdisciplinary Science Conference (WAISC).

Look for upcoming events on the Marine Advisory Program page or contact your local or regional Marine Advisory agent.
