We are pleased to bring the second Kodiak Area Marine Science Symposium (KAMSS) to Kodiak. KAMSS 2014 will bring results of state, federal, and academic studies back to the fishermen, students, and residents of Kodiak Island. Sponsored by the Alaska Sea Grant Marine Advisory Program, KAMSS provides a forum for researchers to present findings of their studies to those interested in understanding how Kodiak’s marine environment and resources function, change, and affect their lives and livelihoods.

Patterned after the first KAMSS, KAMSS 2014 presentations (talks and posters) will span all dimensions of Kodiak’s marine science, including physical oceanography, habitat, crabs and salmon, kittiwakes and killer whales, and historic to current human dimensions.

There is no charge to attend the symposium, but we encourage you to register so that we can better accommodate the total number of participants for the symposium.

Details from the first KAMSS, including links to the program and abstracts, can be viewed by visiting the 2011 KAMSS web page.

The Best Western Kodiak Inn is offering a discount rate of $100 per night plus tax. The rate extends 2 days prior to the beginning of the conference. To secure the special meeting rate, contact the hotel and use group code KAMSS14.
