• Judging student research projects and presentations for Alaska Regional National Ocean Science Bowl.
• GAK-1 Award, given by the crew of the R/V Alpha Helix, 5/98, in recognition of successfully completing the Captain Storm (aka Tom Royer) long time series hydrographic station in the Gulf of Alaska without getting seasick for the first time in 20 years.
