Fairbanks, Alaska—The Alaska Sea Grant College Program will undergo a scheduled four-year review May 18–19, 2010.
A federal Site Review Team will review and discuss the Alaska Sea Grant Program’s management and organization, stakeholder engagement, and collaborative network/NOAA activities.
People wishing to offer comments to the review team on these aspects of the program are invited to submit written statements no later than May 11, 2010. Comments should be emailed to the National Sea Grant College Program at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Following the site visit, the review team will produce a report to the National Sea Grant College Program, the University of Alaska Fairbanks and Alaska Sea Grant. The review is part of a larger effort by National Sea Grant to foster increased cooperation among the 32 Sea Grant Programs nationwide and to understand how local and regional programs and priorities relate to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) national needs and priorities.
Alaska Sea Grant is a marine research, education, outreach and advisory service headquartered at the University of Alaska Fairbanks School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences. It is funded primarily by NOAA and the State of Alaska. Marine Advisory Program agents and specialists work in ten Alaskan coastal communities, providing training, education, advice, and assistance on everything from commercial fishing to coastal tourism.
