A conference to discuss the mariculture of shellfish that live on the sea floor is scheduled for 13-14 November 2001 at the Millennium Hotel in Anchorage, Alaska.

21 September 2001—Sea Grant offers publication on shipping live seafood
Alaska Sea Grant offers a new book that describes the marketing and shipping of live finfish, shellfish, ornamentals, and plants.

30 August 2001—Underwater scientists to gather in Seward
Underwater scientists will gather at the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward, Alaska, September 19-23, for the 21st annual Scientific Diving Symposium, sponsored by the American Academy of Underwater Sciences (AAUS) and the University of Alaska Fairbanks School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences.

16 August 2001—Boat insurance and seabird bycatch publications available from Alaska Sea Grant
What You Need to Know about Recreational Boat Insurance clarifies insurance coverage for recreational boat owners and offers solutions to selecting insurance. Seabird Bycatch: Trends, Roadblocks, and Solutions significantly adds to the knowledge base of seabird incidental mortality in commercial fisheries, and emphasizes the importance of comprehensive solutions.

26 June 2001—Sea Grant urges boaters to play it safe
Alaska has one of the highest rates of recreational boating accidents and deaths in the nation. Some deaths could be prevented if people would wear personal flotation devices and learn and use simple safe boating techniques.
