Western Alaskan Interdisciplinary Science Conference and Forum — Visions for the Future

Update 3/11/2020

WAISC 2020 has been postponed until 2021, due to public health concerns.

The WAISC event organizers recently met to discuss the emerging information about the COVID-19 virus and resulting pandemic. Due to concerns caused directly and indirectly by the virus, we have decided to postpone the WAISC 2020 and SWIM events that were scheduled for April 2020. The event will now take place the following year in 2021, in Dillingham.

The Western Alaska Interdisciplinary Science Conference invites researchers to submit abstracts for presentation at our WAISC 2020 conference in Dillingham, Alaska. The conference will feature a wide range of exciting talks, discussions, and networking opportunities.

This is an opportunity to share your work in western Alaska with colleagues and the Bristol Bay region. We welcome abstracts related to Western Alaska from any scientific disciplinary background, whether the work is empirical or theoretical; in the following areas:

Abstracts will be peer reviewed. Acceptance will be based on content, available space, and overall program balance. Oral presentations will take place on Thursday and Friday, April 2 and 3, 2020.

Abstracts for oral and poster presentation are invited and should be submitted by Monday, March 16 2020, using the WAISC 2020 online abstract submission form. Abstracts should be no more than 250 words for oral or poster presentations, single spaced and include the following information:

Notification of proposal acceptance will be sent by Friday, March 20, 2020. If a proposal is accepted, the presenter must register for the conference in order to participate.
