To register and pay for a workshop, use the online registration link on the left and select that workshop when the option is presented. If you have already registered for the conference and wish to add a workshop, repeat the registration process, but this time uncheck the conference registration, and check the workshop option. You will then be taken to the payment screen to pay for the workshop.
Soap-making
Thursday, April 16
$30. Limited to 10 participants.
This workshop will cover the history and chemistry of cold process soap making. Participants will learn about the properties of different soaping oils and botanicals, how to use a lye calculator, and the technique of soap making. Participants will leave with one pound of soap, a silicone soap mold, and a new skill. Please wear long sleeves, long pants, and close-toed shoes to this hands-on workshop.
Natural Dye Workshop
Wednesday, April 15–Thursday, April 16 (total 4 hours)
$35. Limited to 10 participants.
In this two-part workshop, participants will be introduced to a basic natural dyeing technique for wool fibers, and will create a personal dye sampler set.
In session one, there will be discussion on the dyeing process, fibers, supplies and resources. Participants will also prepare eight natural plant-based dye baths and dye mini-skeins of wool that have been prepared with two different mordants.
In session two, there will be additional discussion on various dye techniques, color variations from a single dye plant, and other potential dye sources. Participants will also complete their dye samples by rinsing, washing and labeling their samples.
