Description

Hosted by the Chukchi campus of University of Alaska Fairbanks, this conference will be the first of its kind to be held in Kotzebue, Alaska. The intent of this conference is to bring together scientists, educators, community leaders, and members, as well as subsistence hunters and gatherers to discuss scientific issues relevant to northwest Alaska.

The focus of this conference is the impact of global warming on the lives of residents of arctic Alaska. This conference will highlight regional scientific efforts and traditional knowledge providing an interdisciplinary approach to scientific inquiry and resource management. In addition to scientific sessions, the conference will include several workshops addressing topics relevant to life in northwest Alaska. Organizers welcome submissions from all individuals and organizations working on research projects and data collection in the Northwest Arctic Borough and other regions of Alaska.

Registration fee: $60

Registration for the dinner and keynote address has closed.

Dinner social and keynote address: Thursday, April 24, 6 p.m.
Dinner cost: $40 (separate registration required, limited to 75 attendees.)
