Best Student Presentation Award

The NAAFE Forum 2015 is pleased to announce the Best Student Presentation Award, which was first introduced at the NAAFE Forum 2013. This year, the award includes $250 cash sponsored by the Marine Resource Economics Foundation. By supporting this award the Marine Resource Economics Foundation recognizes the importance of effective oral presentation of economic analysis and policy implications in professional and public settings.

The Best Student Presentation Award is available to all individuals currently enrolled in a graduate program (i.e., have not yet completed all requirements for degree completion). The student does not need to be first author but must be the sole presenter. Students wishing to be considered for the award must submit a nomination by May 15 to allow scheduling of two judges to attend. To nominate yourself or your student, send the name and presentation title to Eric Thunberg at Eric.Thunberg@NOAA.GOV or Chris Anderson at cmand@uw.edu.

Presentations will be judged on the following criteria:

  1. Quality of visual aids.
  2. Presentation style.
  3. Time management (i.e., success at covering all aspects of outline).
  4. Study is well-motivated and results were well interpreted.

Best Student Paper Competition

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will sponsor a contest for the Best Student Paper presented at the NAAFE Forum. To participate, you must be a student (defined as currently enrolled in a graduate program, or up to a year post graduation) and must have an abstract accepted for presentation at the Forum. Completed papers will be due approximately March 2015—details to follow. The prize will be a $500 check, plus up to $1500 in travel expenses.
