The 2011 Kodiak Area Marine Science Symposium (KAMSS) presented selected results of decades of marine research conducted near Kodiak, Alaska, to fishermen, students, and residents of Kodiak Island. Talks ranged from oceanography to marine animals to human dimensions. During four days of presentations and workshops, local people learned how Kodiak's marine environment and resources function, change, and affect their lives and livelihoods.
