Registration

Registration for the Marine Debris Workshop is through the Alaska Forum on the Environment. Everyone is encouraged to register for the full week and attend the many interesting presentations offered at the Alaska Forum on the Environment! Those interested in attending only the Marine Debris Workshop may register for the last two days of the AFE conference, February 14–15 (registration for 2 days will cost $190). Moderators and presenters are exempt from paying for registration on the day of their presentation.

Early registration is good through December 31, 2007. The cost is $235 for the full week, $95 for any single day, and $35 for any single evening event. Beginning January 1, 2008, the fee will increase to $275 for the full week, $95 for any single day, and $35 for any single evening event. Full conference registration includes free lunch service Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at keynote events on a first-come, first-serve open seating basis for each noon event. Lunch service seating is limited to only the first 400. (There is additional open seating for all keynote events without lunch service).

You can pickup your registration materials at the registration desk at the Egan Center, or on Sunday, February 10th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at an ice cream social at the Anchorage Marriott Downtown Hotel.

Location

All conference presentations and breakout sessions will be held at the Egan Convention Center, 555 West Fifth Avenue, Anchorage, Alaska. Specific room assignments will be posted on this site as they become available.

Reimbursable Travel Assistance

A limited number of grants will be awarded for travel to the marine debris workshop. Please read the selection criteria below to see if you qualify. Your grant request must be emailed by Jan. 4.

These funds will be allocated in travel awards of either $1,000 or $500. The funding will be provided as reimbursement of expenses upon receiving receipts within the 3 travel support categories below. Acceptable charges are listed under travel support.

To help us make a decision, please answer the following questions:

Selection Criteria for travel support

  1. What are the financial limitations of your organization? Are other funding sources available to you?
  2. Is your region an area of high marine debris accumulation or environmentally sensitive fish or wildlife habitat?
  3. Are you giving (or willing to give?) a presentation on a workshop topic or activities in your region?
  4. How many representatives are attending from your region?
