Description

This short publication summarizes a discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of commercial fishing catch share programs in Alaska. Recently the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued a draft national policy that supports development of catch share programs by federal fisheries management councils. Extension agents who may be called upon to educate fishermen about catch share programs will find Alaska's experience helpful.
