Bering Sea Crab Science Symposium IV

Introduction

On August 24, 2011, the Alaska Bering Sea Crabbers hosted a science symposium to showcase the work of AKCRRAB. Alutiiq Pride Hatchery manager Jeff Hetrick, and science team members Ginny Eckert, David Tallmon, and Bob Foy, discussed the progress that they, with their students and associates, have made toward potential future releases of hatchery-raised king crab larvae to enhance depleted wild stocks. Some of the presentations are available here for download. For more information please contact Heather McCarty, hdmccarty@gmail.com.

Alaska Bering Sea Crabbers is an association of crab fishermen with homeports in Alaska, Washington and Oregon. They are actively involved in research activities, crab marketing programs and work closely with fishery managers. As harvesters, they work alongside their partners—the seafood processors and coastal communities—to improve the industry for all.
