Funding and fellowships

Our funding cycle is biennial, and the next call for preliminary proposals will be for funding beginning in February 2010. For current information on our funding, as well as links to funding opportunities from National Sea Grant and NOAA, please see our funding opportunities page.

For information on fellowships for graduate students that can be applied for through Alaska Sea Grant, see our graduate student fellowships page.

One such opportunity is the Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship in Washington, DC, which is suited for graduate students interested in national policy decisions. The fellowship deadline usually falls at the end of February each year.

Progress reports

Progress reports are required for all projects funded by Alaska Sea Grant. If you've received funding from us, please visit our post-award guidelines page for more information.

Publishing information

If you have published a journal article that references research funded by Alaska Sea Grant, please see our publishing tips page, which has information on acknowledging us, a list of grant numbers, and more. If you would like Alaska Sea Grant to publish a book manuscript or other printed piece, please fill out our publication proposal form.

Strategic plan

Alaska Sea Grant operates under a strategic plan developed with the assistance of our Alaska Sea Grant Advisory Committee. See our 2014–2017 strategic plan and our 2009–2013 strategic plan for information on the themes our program currently focuses on and the goals we are working toward.

Program assessment

As part of a national network of Sea Grant programs, Alaska Sea Grant periodically undergoes a rigorous program review. Our most recent assessment, in 2006, resulted in an exemplary rating. For more, see the Program Assessment Team final report [PDF; 1.2 MB].
