Get dialed in on quality before the season. Join us for a 2-hour update and discussion of what's going on with salmon quality innovation locally and around the state. Long-time UAF seafood specialist Dr. Chuck Crapo from Kodiak will present on pre- and post-rigor fish handling, bleeding, and chilling. Mark Buckley of Digital Images, Inc., a 20-year Bristol Bay gillnetter-turned-researcher will share video footage of on-board fish handling practices around the state and will review his research on bacteria loading on fresh fish from point-of-capture through the distribution chain. We will also have updates from the recent International Boston Seafood Show and local Alaska Airlines and Alaska Marine Lines service upgrades. Door prize is a Bonar insulated half tote (compliments of Bonar Plastics and Redden Net) to be drawn after the Saturday session. See you there!
