Volcanos, floods, permafrost, avalanches, and mudflats

It is easy to focus on earthquakes as a hazard, perhaps because we feel them from time to time. However, there are other geologic hazards in Alaska that can disrupt our lives and cost us time and money. Some of the most notable of these are volcanoes, floods, permafrost, avalanches, and mudflats. We can act now to avoid the damage caused by them.
