Hosted by the Chukchi campus of University of Alaska Fairbanks, this conference will be the first of its kind to be held in Kotzebue, Alaska. The intent of this conference is to bring together scientists, educators, community leaders, and members, as well as subsistence hunters and gatherers to discuss scientific issues relevant to northwest Alaska.
The focus of this conference is the impact of global warming on the lives of residents of arctic Alaska. This conference will highlight regional scientific efforts and traditional knowledge providing an interdisciplinary approach to scientific inquiry and resource management. In addition to scientific sessions, the conference will include several workshops addressing topics relevant to life in northwest Alaska. Organizers welcome submissions from all individuals and organizations working on research projects and data collection in the Northwest Arctic Borough and other regions of Alaska.

Session ideas and abstracts are now being accepted. Abstract deadline is April 1, 2014. See the call for papers and sessions.
Registration for WAISC 2014 will be possible only through this website. We are unable to accept in-person or over the phone registrations. The deadline for registration is April 1st, 2014, and this date will be strictly adhered to. If you wish to attend, please register before the close of the registration period.
Registration fee: $60
Registrations accepted until April 1, 2014.
Dinner social and keynote address: Thursday, April 24, 6 p.m.
Fee for attending the dinner: $40 (separate registration required)
Note: The dinner social is limited to 75 attendees.
