Description
New biological information on the golden king crab can be useful in managing this commercially important species. The study concludes that golden king crab larvae can survive at temperatures found in the upper 100 m of the water column in the Gulf of Alaska during most of the year. Thus, the authors assume that the larvae are present in both benthic and pelagic layers. Golden king crab larvae do not feed, so their depth selection may be based on swimming ability.
