A Survey of Participants in the Lower and Central Cook Inlet Halibut and Salmon Sport Fisheries

Add to cart

Description

Survey results showed that nonresidents accounted for 44% of Cook Inlet halibut and salmon sportfishing in 1997, and nonresidents accounted for 65% of charter fishing. Alaskan respondents were younger, lived with larger families, and had lower income than nonresidents. Women comprised more than one-third of the Alaskan anglers, but only one-fifth of the nonresident anglers. In 1997 $34.1 million was spent in the Cook Inlet sport fisheries, with about $25 million brought in from outside the Kenai Peninsula. The survey results compared favorably to similar ones conducted by Alaska Department of Fish and Game covering the same time period.
