Description
One intent of Alaska's crab management program is to allow male golden king crabs a chance to breed before they reach harvestable size. This study provides information on measurements of males, ensuring that male maturity status can be accurately determined by fisheries managers. In addition, it is the first published research on the growth rate of female golden king crab juveniles, useful in determining the number of egg clutches a female might produce.
