This video was created for skiff fishermen, especially in Southwestern Alaska, to help improve the fishery product and their business. Fishermen are shown good practices—how to handle fish gently, bleed them, and ice immediately, to prevent bruising, gaping, scale loss, and bacterial spoilage. Skiff management includes keeping a clean boat, having an adequate holding area, and sanitizing after delivery to the processor. The DVD was filmed in Quinhagak and in lower Yukon/Kuskokwim areas, and is narrated by Carl Jack. Directed by Deborah Mercy.
