Tease your visual sense with a tantalizing glimpse of the naturally inspiring beauty of one of the world's most remote and unexplored undersea environments, Alaska's Aleutian Islands. These 5 x 7-inch, blank notecards with envelopes make great gifts. Or use them yourself to dazzle family and friends with images of the awesome Aleutians! The image on this notecard is from a collection of photographs taken in the Aleutians by scuba-diving marine biologists from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the first people to ever see and photograph the undersea world where they dove.
The sea nettle jellyfish (Chrysaora melanaster) is a common inhabitant of the open ocean of the Aleutian Islands. The bells of these gelatinous predators can reach 12 inches (30 centimeters) across, with tentacles to 8 feet (2.4 meters) long. Kagamil Pass, Kagamil Island.
